Re: SNHA.net online Payment Service – Change in terms
Several years ago, the Smugglers’ Notch Homeowners’ Association, Inc. (SNHA) created an online payment service for the homeowners to use their credit cards to pay their invoices due to SNHA and to their respective Regimes from a link on the SNHA.net home web page. This convenience is now used by some but not all homeowners. The fees that the bank service charges to SNHA average 3.1% of the funds that are processed through the service. The volume of payments processed are now large enough to generate a significant expense to SNHA. This expense has been covered by membership dues collected from all member homes.
The Directors at their recent meetings have discussed this service and the expense and have agreed to continue the service with the addition of a convenience fee. Effective May 1st, 2021, the service will add a 3.1% convenience charge to all amounts paid through the service to recover the expense to the SNHA general operating fund. The basis for this decision rests in the Directors’ position that members who do not use the service should not have a portion of their dues paid to SNHA used to pay for those that do use the service. The Directors wish to capture and recover that expense from those that use the service. In that way, the funds can be applied to SNHA services that will be a benefit to all members.
We encourage all homeowners to explore options that will best serve their respective needs relative to convenience and cost. Some credit cards and most bank account services provide bill payment services that will generate checks that will automatically be mailed to SNHA. Using these services will provide a similar convenience once they are set up by you within your online credit card or bank account.
Let us know if you have questions about this change in the SNHA.net online payment service.
